WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The Consumer Price Index for baked meals and cereal products fell to zero.3% in June, consistent with the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. The index for all food at the domestic level also reduced, easing by 0.3%.
Of the 18 items followed using Milling & Baking News, a sister booklet of World Grain, 14 posted month-over-month declines simultaneously, as four finished higher.
The June index for Cereals and Bakery Products before seasonal adjustment was 276. Nine of 1982-84 were common, up 1.2% from a year in the past. For all domestic food, the June index became 241. Four, up 0.9% from June 2018.
In June, the cereals and cereal merchandise CPI turned 230, up 0.7% from May and 1% from June 2018. The index for products inside this class covered flour and organized mixes, 238. Five, down zero.2% from May and down 1% from the preceding 12 months; breakfast cereal, 224, up zero.5% from the preceding month and up 1.6% from a year in the past; and rice, pasta, and cornmeal, 240.6, up 1.3% from May and up 1% from June 2018.
The price index for bakery products in June was 303. Eight, down 0.Eight from May; however, it was up 1.2% from June 2018.
The June bread index changed to 182.2, down 1% from May; however, it is up to 1. Five from June 2018. Under this heading, the CPI for white bread became 330, down zero. Nine from May, but it is up to 1. Eight from June 2018. For bread aside from white, the index changed to 355.3, down 1.3% from May; however, it is up 1.9% from 12 months ago.
The charging index for clean biscuits, rolls, and cakes in June became 178.2, down 1.6% from May but up 0.2% from June 2018. The June index for desserts, cupcakes, and cookies was 291.1, down 0.4% from May and up 0.7% from June 2018. Under this phase, different rate indexes blanketed sparkling desserts and cupcakes, 318.9, up to zero. Three from May and up to three from June 2018; cookies, 270.3, down 1% from the previous month and down zero.Eight from the last 12 months. In June, the CPI for different bakery products changed to 271.1, down 0.6% from May but up 1. Nine from June 2018. Under this heading, other rate indexes in June included sparkling candy rolls, coffee cakes, and donuts, 310.2, down 1.3% from May but up 5.4% from June 2018; crackers and cracker merchandise, 309. Five, down 0.Three from May, up 2% from June 2018, frozen and refrigerated bakery products, pies, muffins, and turnovers, 270.2, down 0.7% from May and down 0.Five from the previous year.
